Cupid.com/PreDating™ FAQs

About Cupid.com/PreDating™  |  How Cupid.com/PreDating™ Works  |  View the live site, Cupid.com/PreDating™

What IS Speed Dating? Explain the Cupid.com/PreDating™ concept.
Speed Dating is an incredibly hot, new, exciting way for Singles to meet other Singles. Rather than wasting time, hanging out in a bar, going on blind dates, or going to dinners with strangers- with Speed Dating, singles can meet up to 12 other eligible singles in a single night, with short, 6 minute "mini-dates". After the night is over, if 2 singles are interested, they may contact the other to suggest a follow up meeting. It's anonymous, it's efficient, and it's fun!

So, how does it work?
Cupid.com/PreDating™ parties are held in a private room at a pub, restaurant, hotel or cafe. As a registrant checks in, they are given a numbered nametag, a PreDating™ "score" card and a seat assignment at one of the many tables for two. When the bell rings, the two people at each table have six minutes to chat. When the bell rings again, the male moves to the next table and the process starts over. After each six-minute "date" both people discreetly circle "yes" or "no" on their "score" card. During the evening, there are one or more 15-minute breaks. This provides the opportunity to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and a beverage and to mingle with the entire group. After the party, the PreDating™ host (coordinator) enters all "scores" on Cupid.com. Then, the attendees receive an e-mail message informing them of their mutual matches. Confidentiality is maintained since each person only knows the other's first name.

What do my stations need to do? What does Cupid.com provide?
First, sign the agreement and fax it to us. After that… 1) you secure the venue, 2) you sell title sponsorships and/or coupon sponsors (optional) 3) You promote the party on air and 4) You "run" the party with 3 station employees/interns.

Cupid.com/PreDating™ provides: 1) A complete step-by-step operations manual, 2) a one-sheet that fully describes the program to your title sponsor, coupons sponsors and host venue, 3) Online paid registration via credit card for 24 men and 24 women at $35 each, 4) Email announcements to all opted in Cupid.com members in your area promoting the party, 5) Access to registrants for final "scores" tabulation at party's end, 6) Recommended copy and suggested advertising/promo schedule, 7) Design and distribution of press releases for your market, 8) availability for on air interview of Lisa Daily, Cupid.com's "Director of Love" and renowned author on dating to discuss Speed Dating, 9) availability of your local PreDating™ "host (coordinator)" for on air interview 10) all supplies, including 48 Cupid.com/PreDating™ score cards, 12 Cupid.com/PreDating™ Table Tent Cards, 48 Cupid.com/PreDating™ Name Tags, 48 Cupid.com pens, 48 Cupid.com/PreDating™ bags for your coupons, and Cupid.com banners.

Should we open the party to anybody?
NO. It's important that we "narrow" the demographics of each party so that people meet like-minded singles. Here are the age ranges we recommend. Have one party for 27-45, 35 - 50, 40-55, or 50+. Or, how 'bout a party for single parents? There are MANY different segments of singles looking for mates and dates. Remember, this is an OLDER demographic than you realize. Speed Dating is biggest amongst 30 - 50 year olds. It's NOT just for your CHR audience!!!

Why limit the party to 48 singles?
Actually, we can have more folks, but each "party" is limited to 12 men and 12 women (or 15 and 15max). We can do 2 in one night. But no more than that.

Why limit the party to 90 minutes?
1) These parties are usually held on a Tue or Wed night. Folks have to work the next day and need to know that party will end at a reasonable time. 2) By limiting the party to 90 minutes, it gives everyone an incentive to show up on time, to move tables at the bell, and to come back quickly from each break. 3) After 90 minutes, most people will have met about 12 other singles… and they're gonna have sore throats and be tired.

At what kind of venue should we have the party?
A relatively large bar or restaurant, or a ballroom in a hotel. Some privacy is required for the PreDaters™. The venue needs to provide 12 tables for 2… and snacks.

Do my stations need to be Cupid.com affiliates in order to do this?
There needs to be a Cupid.com affiliate in your market! And Cupid.com affiliates do get "first dibs" to put on Cupid.com/PreDating™ parties.

If we do this, do we have market exclusivity?
NO. We do however provide 60 day "protection" so that we won't schedule any Cupid.com/PreDating™ party within your MSA 30 days prior to or 30 days after your party. So, if you book 6 per year (one every 60 days), you are, in effect, guaranteeing your exclusivity in the market for the year.

What does it cost the participants?
Registration is about $35 per person (or whatever dollar amount we set). We anticipate 48 participants, so revenue from registrations, which is split evenly between your stations and Cupid.com, can be $1,680 per party. There are also other sources of revenue for your stations (revenue NOT shared with Cupid.com) such as an ad schedule from the bar or restaurant; title sponsorship; coupon sponsors, etc. Remember, the $35 fee includes a FREE one month GOLD membership on Cupid.com (a $25 value!). Plus partygoers meet other singles and have a fun night… all for $35. It's CHEAP!

Is Cupid.com/PreDating™ a Web-based promotion or is it live?
It's live! Although participants sign up on the Web, you promote the party on air and it actually occurs at a local venue.

What happens after the party?
After the party the Party's host (coordinator) logs in to Cupid.com to enter all the "scores" for all the matching participants. Once the information is entered, each participant receives a list of the people that are interested in hearing from them. It's that simple. They then use their FREE, one-month Cupid.com membership (provided as part of the registration fee) to get to know their "dates" and take things from there.

How long does it take for participants to get their matches?
Participants get information back in just a few hours or less. The sooner they enter their "scores", the sooner they will begin receiving notifications of matches.

What information is provided to the matches?
After entering the info on who you'd like to see again, you receive emails from Cupid.com giving you the "online name" of the people who are hoping to see YOU again. The only information you will see is what the other has posted in their Cupid.com profile.

How do people register?
In order to attend a party, members must register online at Cupid.com and pay in advance.

What is provided at the party?
Participants receive a nametag, "match" sheet and even a souvenir Cupid.com pen, which are all supplied by Cupid.com. We also give you Cupid.com banners and numbered Cupid.com "table tent" cards to display at each table at the party. The venue should provide free Hors d'oeuvres and drink specials.

Is there registration at the door?
No. In order to attend a party, members must register online at Cupid.com and pay in advance.
